Christian Miljeteig was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice moves Sebastian Kvernmo could shoot a difficult shot in the 10th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Daustad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Obrestad didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Miljeteig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Christian Miljeteig when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
