The tension between the Αστέρας and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 20 played minutes Αστέρας got a freekick which was hit by Vassilis Batzis. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugenios Iordanis in the 23rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Αστέρας's Theocharis Violopoulos got a free kick in the 24th minute. Αστέρας's Manos Karagiannopoulos was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Marcos Cotilla in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 31 minutes into the game, Vassilis Batzis recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Marcos Cotilla. Vassilis Batzis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugenios Iordanis, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Eugenios Iordanis took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. The audience was convinced that Tomas Berganza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iraklis Vazakos was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. 77 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Vassilis Batzis came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Vladimiros Sismanidis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugenios Iordanis in the 90th minute of play. After 91 played minutes Αστέρας got a freekick which was hit by Orestis Papadakoglou. Αστέρας's defense didn't have a chance, in the 95th minute, when Tomas Berganza scored to the left of an out of position Iraklis Vazakos, making the score, 4-2. Αστέρας's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
