Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. In the 50th minute, Eugène Jetté hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Omar Duardo in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cameron Leary in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by 陆西迅 in the 56th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
