Vancouver Reds's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Vancouver Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. 严霆梁 didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Omar Duardo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Omar Duardo having to interfere. Vancouver Reds's Omar Duardo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Vancouver Reds from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Omar Duardo in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jerry Lawler's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. 82 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Jerry Lawler came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 84 minutes, Jerry Lawler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vancouver Reds's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerry Lawler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Omar Duardo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Vancouver Reds's Omar Duardo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Vancouver Reds from getting a goal against them. Róbson Queirós charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Róbson Queirós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Róbson Queirós hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 92 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Cristian Sancho sped through Vancouver Reds's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Omar Duardo. The Vancouver Reds fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
