Orestis Lazarou made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 14th minute of play. Orestis Lazarou showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of the match. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charly Rusterholz in the 18th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Rondo's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Orestis Lazarou reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Orestis Lazarou made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Orestis Lazarou breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Rondo defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Orestis Lazarou. The Rondo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Orestis Lazarou should have stopped the shot. Orestis Lazarou showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

52 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Orestis Lazarou made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Orestis Lazarou came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Orestis Lazarou made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Agustín Saelices's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Orestis Lazarou firmly grabbed it by the left post. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacco Hekman in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th minute of the match Rondo got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rick de Zee ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Rondo's corner Rick de Zee fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Orestis Lazarou didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Orestis Lazarou showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
