The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Dream Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caetano Alvarenga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Laurentino Tavares might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 30th minute, FC Dream Team's Flávio Almeida dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Flávio Almeida's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. With an all-out effort, FC Dream Team's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jardel van Beek, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 37th match minute, FC Dream Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caetano Alvarenga to maneuver through the defense. In the 42nd minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 46 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. In the 59th minute Flávio Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, FC Dream Team's Albino Oskarbi got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. FC Dream Team's Flávio Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Dream Team's goalkeeper Albino Oskarbi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Laurentino Tavares charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Laurentino Tavares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
