Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 9 minutes into the match, Deportivo Pucho's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Józef Mlynarczyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 12 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Claudio-Paul Caniggia was slow to take the kick. During this time Deportivo Pucho's players had a chance to rest. In the 17th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Józef Mlynarczyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claudio-Paul Caniggia in the 24th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Deportivo Pucho's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Józef Mlynarczyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Pucho's Paulo Milio got a free kick in the 34th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Tolino in the 43rd minute of play. Deportivo Pucho's Östen Stor was substituted for Claudio-Paul Caniggia. The wind increased when Östen Stor made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Ahmet Nasir Nesefi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Östen Stor's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. After having played for 63 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luis Andino struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Józef Mlynarczyk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After 70 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Józef Mlynarczyk was left in no man's land by his defense there! Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Östen Stor in the 74th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Östen Stor in the 95th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Pucho's Romulo Brun got a free kick in the 96th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
