Rareș Tatulici ran over to the corner to take the kick. After having played for 8 minutes, Eric Păvăloae managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ninjas in Pyjamas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eric Păvăloae was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Andrei Cosor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cai Yue Guang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 27 minutes into the game, when Mihnea Iosub put in a rough tackle. Cai Yue Guang had in the 28thth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Zorita's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Eric Păvăloae stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Eric Păvăloae tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 35th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cai Yue Guang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play forced Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Cai Yue Guang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrei Cosor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ninjas in Pyjamas's Cai Yue Guang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 43rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Eric Păvăloae stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Eric Păvăloae tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Eric Păvăloae got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 56th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd minute, Eric Păvăloae ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 65 minutes into the match, Eric Păvăloae had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eric Păvăloae was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. When Eric Păvăloae came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Ninjas in Pyjamas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eric Păvăloae couldn't finish the play. 79 minutes into the match, Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Cai Yue Guang had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cai Yue Guang having to interfere. After having played for 84 minutes, Andrei Cosor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ninjas in Pyjamas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andrei Cosor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Camilo Gisbert during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 85th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Păvăloae in the 90th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Eric Păvăloae's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eric Păvăloae went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Ninjas in Pyjamas's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
