With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Pardo in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Telmo Chaves saved Pinheiros Capibaras FC from getting behind. The corner ended in Sidney Damião almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Paraguay's Jacobo Nores did a great save. Primitivo Escribano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Chaves having to interfere. Telmo Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hector Covarrubias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 22 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Valdomiro Sanches came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 28th minute, Edmundo Cearense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paraguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Covarrubias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Telmo Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Pinheiros Capibaras FC's zone, Jaime Pardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Chaves came out of the goal and Jaime Pardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 36th minute, Luís Fábio Massa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luís Fábio Massa kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Primitivo Escribano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Chaves having to interfere. When Jaime Pardo came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Pardo couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luís Fabiano Sena to strike the kick off in the second half. Luís Fabiano Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pinheiros Capibaras FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paraguay the free kick. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Pinheiros Capibaras FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alan Campos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 77 minutes in the game, Jaime Pardo fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Telmo Chaves having to interfere. 80 minutes into the game, Alan Campos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paraguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pinheiros Capibaras FC the free kick. When Jaime Pardo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 84 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Telmo Chaves was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hector Covarrubias got free with Telmo Chaves in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
