Football Club Zestafoni's Beto Acosta got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Beto Acosta in the 24th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Anatoly Pilievi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anatoly Pilievi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Gustaw Tylenda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 36 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 41 minutes into the match, Beto Acosta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Joshua Secada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gav Benbow having to interfere. After 53 minutes, Djvebe Robakidze mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Football Club Zestafoni and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. Anatoly Pilievi hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. After 55 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Venegas. Gav Benbow stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. After having played for 73 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gav Benbow made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 73rd minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaw Tylenda came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Acosta in the 83rd minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Football Club Zestafoni's Beto Acosta. But to his dismay, Beto Acosta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. The supporters of Football Club Zestafoni booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 90 minutes into the match, Football Club Zestafoni's Giorgi Gogava sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 94th minute of play forced Football Club Zestafoni's goalkeeper Gav Benbow to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Football Club Zestafoni fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
