Ross Herman went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Scot Carlisle almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Boizão Club do Recife's Arlindo Borges did a great save. With an all-out effort, FC Figari's Arlindo Borges threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jeff Ott, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. FC Figari's Donovan Overton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Veniamin Shashkov in the 26th minute of play. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Heriberto Fay to strike the kick off in the second half. During the 51st minute of the match Clóvis Cabral completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Clóvis Cabral a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Boizão Club do Recife getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Clóvis Cabral hit a great ball. Zé Pedro Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Donovan Overton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donovan Overton was a little too slow when Veniamin Shashkov got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 79th minute. The score was now 0-6. Merle Wilhelm's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arlindo Borges read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Arlindo Borges took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeff Ott, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the FC Figari defense, Veniamin Shashkov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donovan Overton. The FC Figari fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donovan Overton should have stopped the shot. Veniamin Shashkov might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donovan Overton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Veniamin Shashkov ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd rose to their feet as Zé Pedro Cardoso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Donovan Overton. That made the score 0-8 in the 95 minute of play. Boizão Club do Recife's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
