When the match clock showed 27 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Vince Riad sped through Boizão Club do Recife's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Arlindo Borges. After a rather tough play, Vicenza Wanderers's Ozzy Budden got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 31st minute, Zé Paulo Messias made a precise shot to the right of Marc Ploughman. Vicenza Wanderers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Vince Riad blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arlindo Borges having to make a save. In the 38th match minute, Vicenza Wanderers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lewis Bullard to maneuver through the defense. Arlindo Borges showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lewis Bullard in the 72nd minute of the match. Arlindo Borges took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vince Riad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arthur Messias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marc Ploughman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Boizão Club do Recife's Arlindo Borges played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vince Riad in the 77th minute of play. Chip Steele recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Vicenza Wanderers's Ron Sharples got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 82nd minute, Arthur Messias fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Marc Ploughman, passed just outside the right post. Arlindo Borges took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chip Steele, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90thth minute of the game Vince Riad who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Boizão Club do Recife's Arlindo Borges was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Chip Steele's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arlindo Borges was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vicenza Wanderers fans cheered their team off the field, for while Boizão Club do Recife had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
