The Vicenza Wanderers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chip Steele in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emiliano Scatena saved Villazzano from getting behind. In the 21st minute, Phillip Leeson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Claudio Simeoni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 25th match minute, Vicenza Wanderers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ron Sharples to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute of the match, Franco Orlandi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Marc Ploughman saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Franco Orlandi came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Villazzano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Franco Orlandi couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd minute, Claudio Simeoni made a precise shot to the right of Marc Ploughman. Vicenza Wanderers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. When Vince Riad came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Vicenza Wanderers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vince Riad couldn't finish the play. If Edoardo Melfi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Villazzano booed when Vicenza Wanderers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Newman didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Vicenza Wanderers fans' excitement grew in the 43rd match minute when Vicenza Wanderers's Chip Steele looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half Vicenza Wanderers were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chip Steele made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Phillip Leeson had to leave the field with a concussion. 52 minutes into the game, Franco Orlandi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Villazzano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vicenza Wanderers the free kick. In the 54th minute, Vince Riad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute of the match, Vince Riad tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Emiliano Scatena saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Villazzano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. 71 minutes into the match, Villazzano's goalkeeper Emiliano Scatena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chip Steele. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chip Steele got free with Emiliano Scatena in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marc Ploughman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elia Barbanti, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Vicenza Wanderers's zone, Claudio Simeoni stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marc Ploughman came out of the goal and Claudio Simeoni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Chip Steele put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Emiliano Scatena. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vince Riad in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emiliano Scatena prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Chip Steele scored 1-5 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emiliano Scatena, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Vicenza Wanderers walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
