In the 28th match minute, Cusco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Txindoki Azcarate to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Meira in the 30th minute of play forced Cusco FC's goalkeeper Inge Tuero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hakim Frémont, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Rodriguez Baptiste blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hakim Frémont having to make a save. The tension between the Paulopolis and the Cusco FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lino Meira to strike the kick off in the second half.
