The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 played minutes Sosoco FC got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Eduardo de Queiroz. 3 minutes into the match, La Armada Buscapina's Alejandro Papaggelatos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Diamantino Arruda narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luiz Eduardo de Queiroz made in the 5th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Dorian Linares however managed to control. Alejandro Papaggelatos took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Diamantino Arruda. Diamantino Arruda dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Edmílson Veloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Chupan Moco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sosoco FC's Diamantino Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Papaggelatos in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of La Armada Buscapina booed when Sosoco FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Eduardo de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Diamantino Arruda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alejandro Papaggelatos, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Alejandro Papaggelatos scored 0-2 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Diamantino Arruda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 19 minutes into the game, Alejandro Papaggelatos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Diamantino Arruda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Sosoco FC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Luiz Eduardo de Queiroz hit a great ball. 27 minutes into the match, Alejandro Papaggelatos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Diamantino Arruda. Sosoco FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alejandro Papaggelatos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejandro Papaggelatos in the 31st minute of play forced Sosoco FC's goalkeeper Diamantino Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute, Alejandro Papaggelatos made a precise shot to the right of Diamantino Arruda. Sosoco FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Diamantino Arruda came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by La Armada Buscapina's Alejandro Papaggelatos. But to his dismay, Alejandro Papaggelatos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Sosoco FC's Diamantino Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Papaggelatos in the 42nd minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Diamantino Arruda stood somewhat misplaced when Alejandro Papaggelatos came free in front of goal and shot 0-7 to the left of him in the 51 minute. Luís Guilherme Carvalho charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 74 minutes, Denílson Ronaldinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Armada Buscapina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denílson Ronaldinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sosoco FC's zone, Denílson Ronaldinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diamantino Arruda came out of the goal and Denílson Ronaldinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 78th minute Lúcio Mattos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chupan Moco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diamantino Arruda came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by La Armada Buscapina's Denílson Ronaldinho. But to his dismay, Denílson Ronaldinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-10. In the 88thth minute of the game Denílson Ronaldinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sosoco FC's Diamantino Arruda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Denílson Ronaldinho got free with Diamantino Arruda in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Denílson Ronaldinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Diamantino Arruda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denílson Ronaldinho in the 96th minute of the match. The La Armada Buscapina supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing La Armada Buscapina would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
