The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Máté Elek sent off a good shot on target. In the 14th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Attila Mesterházy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when László Madaras came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Christian Kilstedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. If Christian Kilstedt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball. The Fortuna Balassagyarmat FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0.
