In the 20th match minute, Santa Maradona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cecilio Beltxe to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Jonathan Errapel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santa Maradona's Jonathan Errapel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Errapel saved Santa Maradona from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Errapel was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. 26 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Jonathan Errapel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 44 played minutes, Santa Maradona's Laureano Sustrai shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Santa Maradona reached it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Transito in the 51st minute of play. Santa Maradona's Jonathan Errapel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Santa Maradona from getting a goal against them. After 63 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Errapel was left in no man's land by his defense there! 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Errapel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Corneliu Văcăroiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Santa Maradona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Corneliu Văcăroiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's Rodolfo Cordeiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Zorita succeeded in the game's 80th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-2. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Jonathan Errapel in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Errapel made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Santa Maradona were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
