Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Cristian Naike started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Elpidio Vitin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 3rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 6th minute of play forced Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Elpidio Vitin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the game, Emmanuel Reyes threw the ball into play from the sideline. Vélez Juniors's Santos Fonda quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 19th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Vélez Juniors's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Luz Tejedor got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Elpidio Vitin quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Julian Murillo scored 0-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Elpidio Vitin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 30th minute, Julian Murillo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Peru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Cristian Naike could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. Luz Tejedor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elpidio Vitin having to interfere. When Cristian Naike came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Vélez Juniors fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Naike couldn't finish the play. After 44 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vélez Juniors! 46 minutes into the match, Luz Tejedor had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elpidio Vitin. Vélez Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luz Tejedor was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Vélez Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Elpidio Vitin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Milagros Fraga in the 59th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Vélez Juniors's Santos Fonda. Vélez Juniors's defense didn't have a chance, in the 62nd minute, when Julian Murillo scored to the left of an out of position Elpidio Vitin, making the score, 0-4. Vélez Juniors made a substitution. Donato Efraim replaced Nicolas Roland. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Luz Tejedor took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Elpidio Vitin to make any attempt to save it. After 71 minutes, Julian Murillo made it 0-6 with a short kick to the right side. Vélez Juniors's Elpidio Vitin tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elpidio Vitin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Santos Fonda during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Santos Fonda kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. In the 82nd minute, Santos Fonda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rafael Gallo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Elpidio Vitin made a huge save. Elpidio Vitin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Elpidio Vitin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Gallo in the 91st minute of play. In the 91st minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elpidio Vitin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Peru supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Peru would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
