Cassius Byrne started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 4th minute of play forced PIAUÍ FC's goalkeeper Iurie Chiriacescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. USA's Cassius Byrne got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. USA's Marco Day proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save USA from getting a goal against them. Cassius Byrne scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iurie Chiriacescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 15 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Guga Trancoso came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iurie Chiriacescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cassius Byrne in the 19th minute of play. Alfredão Prestes hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Cassius Byrne, 22 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 27 minutes into the match, PIAUÍ FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cassius Byrne came free, but Iurie Chiriacescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in USA's zone, Guga Trancoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Day came out of the goal and Guga Trancoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A well-hit corner resulted in Zach Harrison heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After a rather tough play, PIAUÍ FC's Guga Trancoso got a free kick in the 44th minute. USA's Marco Day proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save USA from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Baturhan Oytun made a kick off. Iurie Chiriacescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th minute of the match USA got a corner. PIAUÍ FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cassius Byrne ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 56th minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iurie Chiriacescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 58 minutes, Mete Gøl managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PIAUÍ FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mete Gøl was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cassius Byrne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Iurie Chiriacescu made a huge save. PIAUÍ FC's Iurie Chiriacescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 79th minute of play. Sam Campbell in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal.
