In the 23rd match minute, Corinthians Colombiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Melquiades Orellana to maneuver through the defense. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corinthians Colombiano's goalkeeper Baladi Barsi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 72nd minute. Luis Andino was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristian Sancho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Baladi Barsi. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Corinthians Colombiano's Filip Borza got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
