Maximiliano Escribano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raul Brandao showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Seco in the 31st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Seco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raul Brandao breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Raul Brandao tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raul Brandao dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. In the 48th minute, Jaime Cazalla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Uruguay were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Calito Garcia was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Francisco Seco took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Raul Brandao to make any attempt to save it. Kevin Carballal's late challenge caught a ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kevin Carballal helped the player get up and apologised. In the 59th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin Carballal to maneuver through the defense. Edgardo Arias did an outstanding performance 60 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 2-4 to the right of an irritated Joaquin Gayoso in the goal. Raul Brandao was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Francisco Seco showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-5 in the 63 minute of play. Edgardo Arias charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgardo Arias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With a little luck, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Raul Brandao got control of the ball when Bruno Beldad tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Camilo Covarrubias hit a great ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Edgardo Arias got a free kick in the 88th minute. 95 minutes into the match, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s goalkeeper Raul Brandao had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. Maximiliano Escribano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raul Brandao having to interfere. Uruguay's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
