In the 36th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 43rd minute of play forced E L C O K O F C ® E V G ®'s goalkeeper Lucas Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led to Mexico's Lorenzo Cazalla getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Luca Rouco's late challenge caught a E L C O K O F C ® E V G ®'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luca Rouco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 66th minute, one of Mexico:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mexico. Dante Lacasa had in the 68thth minute some difficulties stopping Lando Lavet's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. E L C O K O F C ® E V G ®'s Lucas Duarte proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save E L C O K O F C ® E V G ® from getting a goal against them. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucas Duarte having to interfere. The supporters of Mexico booed when E L C O K O F C ® E V G ® was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Menendo didn't get a good kick on the ball.
