Americo Herena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of the match. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute. Ecuador's Luis Andino was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Americo Herena in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 13 minutes into the match, Luis Andino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Americo Herena. S. D. Águilas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luis Andino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Juan Sebastián Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Americo Herena read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Americo Herena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 26th minute of play. Americo Herena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 29th minute of play forced S. D. Águilas's goalkeeper Americo Herena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saul Txordon, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Americo Herena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador.

When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Americo Herena to make any attempt to save it. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of play forced S. D. Águilas's goalkeeper Americo Herena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Águilas players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
