Bolivia's Alfonso de la Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luiz Gustavo Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Fontirroig in the 35th minute of play. In the 37thth minute of the game Eduardo Fontirroig who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Irreal Madrid's Luiz Gustavo Leão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mario Fernandino was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Bolivia getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Mario Fernandino hit a great ball. The supporters of Bolivia booed when Irreal Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dito Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eduardo Fontirroig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Luiz Gustavo Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mario Fernandino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Luiz Gustavo Leão made a huge save. 76 minutes into the game, Bolivia's Mario Fernandino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luiz Gustavo Leão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. Alfonso de la Cruz took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luiz Gustavo Leão. Luiz Gustavo Leão dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-8. Luiz Gustavo Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eduardo Fontirroig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Chicote's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Gustavo Leão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Irreal Madrid's Luiz Gustavo Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julio Chicote in the 86th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfonso de la Cruz during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Irreal Madrid booed when Bolivia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso de la Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfredo Ferrant got a throw-in 91 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Francisco Gallo. Bolivia played a much better game than Irreal Madrid and deserved their victory. The Irreal Madrid players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
