The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. In the 21st minute Rogelio Aimar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Uruguay fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 24th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Joaquin Gayoso, was totally fooled by Roja Directa's Rogelio Aimar, who 25 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 31st minute, Gregorio Lico reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joaquin Gayoso. The goal made the score 4-0. The supporters of Roja Directa booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 48th minute, Roja Directa's Arturo Loramendi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 7-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 7-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rogelio Aimar made a kick off. A collision led to Roja Directa getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Slavomil Hosnedl hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 59 minutes, the score became 9-0 when Rogelio Aimar sped through Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. In the 63rd minute, Francisco Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arturo Loramendi, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Francisco Seco during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 71 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Seco. Silvano Cutberto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Gregorio Lico managed to get in a good position for a shot. Roja Directa's supporters rose to their feet, but Gregorio Lico was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquin Gayoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximiliano Escribano got free with Baltasar Lastur in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silvano Cutberto's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. After 90 played minutes Roja Directa got a freekick which was hit by Wilfredo Tono. In the 92ndth minute of the game Silvano Cutberto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Roja Directa's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gregorio Lico in the 94th minute. After taking down the ball on Roja Directa's corner Gregorio Lico fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Joaquin Gayoso quite easily take care of the ball. Silvano Cutberto took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 10-0. In the 98th minute, Silvano Cutberto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Roja Directa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 11-0. Roja Directa were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Uruguay for a fine match.
