Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedro Bertol in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Fausto Weterio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Estudiantes de la Plata's Fausto Weterio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 10th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 13th minute by Sixto Txartiko got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 14th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. Alex Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Tobias Feo came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute, Pedro Bertol ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Igor Gilabert sent off a good shot on target. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hernán-Adrián Crespo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 37 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernán-Adrián Crespo in the 41st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hernán-Adrián Crespo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 43 minute of play. Venezuela's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Hernán-Adrián Crespo 47 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 4-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pedro Bertol made a kick off. Estudiantes de la Plata's Fausto Weterio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Estudiantes de la Plata from getting a goal against them. If Pedro Bertol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Estudiantes de la Plata booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hernán-Adrián Crespo in the 64th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Estudiantes de la Plata defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fausto Weterio. The Estudiantes de la Plata fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fausto Weterio should have stopped the shot. After 71 minutes of play, Estudiantes de la Plata's Pedro Bertol made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pedro Bertol took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Marcial Cayo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Estudiantes de la Plata's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fausto Weterio came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 95 minutes of play, Estudiantes de la Plata's Pedro Bertol made it 8-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Estudiantes de la Plata walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
