After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos got a free kick in the 7th minute. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. LUIZ PANATO's Guto Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 18th minute of play. Damian Urki struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for LUIZ PANATO. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guto Taffarel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. LUIZ PANATO's Guto Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 31st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 34th minute of play forced LUIZ PANATO's goalkeeper Guto Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Tostão Reis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the match, Patricio Costa notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of LUIZ PANATO's Guto Taffarel. Guto Taffarel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Guto Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 39th minute of play. In the 41st minute, LUIZ PANATO's Damian Urki dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when LUIZ PANATO's Zhao Yue Cheng fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Zhao Yue Cheng made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Aki Guardo made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. After a rather tough play, LUIZ PANATO's Pedro Luiz Paiva got a free kick in the 56th minute. The goalkeeper, Guto Taffarel, was totally fooled by Venezuela's Tomas Illescas, who 88 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Pedro Luiz Paiva kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The LUIZ PANATO manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Venezuela to win.
