Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Genk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Suat Kaya didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute, Vergil Rupov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Genk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Segundo Ubendu hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vergil Rupov took the ball and in the 99 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 10-0. Genk walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
