Eliseo Mina might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sebastián Sosa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliseo Mina ran back to his position shaking his head. 9 minutes into the match, Marco Cantona notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sebastián Sosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Vikingos FC's Roque Vito managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Emmanuel Reyes in the 20 minute of the game. 21 minutes into the match, Vikingos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Sebastián Sosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marco Cantona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vikingos FC's goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Marco Cantona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vikingos FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco Cantona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Noboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sebastián Sosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Marco Cantona made the kick off in the second half. Luz Tejedor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastián Sosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vikingos FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Luz Tejedor got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sebastián Sosa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Eliseo Mina, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 53 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Sebastián Sosa was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Cantona, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 68th minute of play forced Vikingos FC's goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sebastián Sosa had great luck who in the 73rdth minute grab hold of the ball when Julian Murillo from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marco Cantona in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Vikingos FC's Per-Olof Vallmark was substituted for Roque Vito. Vikingos FC made a substitution. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Vikingos FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Peru for much of the match.
