After a defensive mix-up in C.A.Independiente's zone, Orlando Casaus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Buford Lim came out of the goal and Orlando Casaus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tom Misaki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, C.A.Independiente's Nereo Frederico got a free kick in the 17th minute. Chile's Alan Tamayo managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Nereo Frederico in the 23 minute of the game. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heigo Luiga in the 34th minute of the match. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Buford Lim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heigo Luiga in the 42nd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tom Misaki was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, C.A.Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Buford Lim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, C.A.Independiente's Nereo Frederico got a free kick in the 54th minute. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Buford Lim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orlando Casaus got free with Buford Lim in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 66th minute Tom Misaki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bernardino Gonsalve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Buford Lim made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. 73 minutes had been played when some careless play by C.A.Independiente's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mariano Lacasa was slow to take the kick. During this time Chile's players had a chance to rest. Chile's Pedro Indiano was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Buford Lim in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in C.A.Independiente's zone, Xavier Figueroa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Buford Lim came out of the goal and Xavier Figueroa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Buford Lim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 76th minute of play. A collision led to C.A.Independiente getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Lisandro Mederi hit a great ball. Guillermo Fontirroig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heigo Luiga in the 83rd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Buford Lim having to make a save. The supporters of Chile booed when C.A.Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaroslaw Psikuta didn't get a good kick on the ball.
