The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Severino Madureira came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 11 minutes into the match, CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Severino Madureira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 13 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Severino Madureira was left in no man's land by his defense there! 17 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Severino Madureira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Primitivo Andino hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Diguinho de Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Madureira having to interfere. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcelinho Ramalho hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. 39 minutes into the match, CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Severino Madureira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Severino Madureira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After 42 played minutes CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE got a freekick which was hit by Luís Paulo Paiva. Severino Madureira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Severino Madureira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Clemente Prestes made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's Severino Madureira. In the 70th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Severino Madureira was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-8. After 75 minutes of play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro made it 0-9 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Severino Madureira was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Edinho Aparecido took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 78th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Madureira having to interfere. 85 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Severino Madureira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-10. Severino Madureira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 89th minute. 92 minutes into the game, Cafu Salles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cafu Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
