If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Aldo Croce came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Francisco Seco put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Franco Borel. Maximiliano Escribano struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Franco Borel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. Franco Borel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Franco Borel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Gisbert, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. A throw-in in the 42nd minute of the game was made by Camilo Covarrubias with Jaime Cazalla as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.

In the 53rd minute Francisco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Borel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aldo Croce in the 65th minute of play. Franco Borel made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Camilo Franco sent off a good shot on target. ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's Franco Borel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Seco in the 71st minute of play. Jorge Sainz made in the 74th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Camilo Franco. With his leg Franco Borel managed to avoid a goal in the 76thth minute, when Uruguay's Francisco Seco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's zone, Francisco Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franco Borel came out of the goal and Francisco Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 81st minute, Anselmo Di Martino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aldo Croce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's attentive Kenji Takahara managed to snatch the ball when Jorge Sainz made a throw-in in the 88th minute of the game. After 92 minutes, Alberto Gisbert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Uruguay and the ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 92nd minute, Alberto Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aldo Croce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
