Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, Carmine Righi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carmine Righi might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carmine Righi ran back to his position shaking his head. Ulryk Czubski kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. After having played for 25 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cláudio Motta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play. Ulryk Czubski kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmine Righi in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Carmine Righi made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Felix Montenegro made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that H Romeu's Cláudio Motta managed to reach the ball for a save. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when Ecuador's Felix Montenegro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cláudio Motta having to make a save. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
