The Du Esporte Clube fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when Du Esporte Clube's Arnaldo Lizer looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Sílvio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Markus Pflüger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 38th minute of the match. Markus Pflüger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 39th minute of play. In the 47thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Du Esporte Clube's Markus Pflüger was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sílvio Costa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Arnaldo Lizer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. A very good chance. In the 80th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Markus Pflüger. Du Esporte Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-3. Markus Pflüger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 83rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sílvio Costa in the 84th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Sílvio Costa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sílvio Costa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-3. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Du Esporte Clube fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
