Joaquin Gayoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ronalds McDonald went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Desportivo Coala's Ronalds McDonald got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Francisco Seco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Astor Hug was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Ronalds McDonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Joaquin Gayoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Ronalds McDonald left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Desportivo Coala fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ronalds McDonald blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joaquin Gayoso having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronalds McDonald got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jorge Sainz's late challenge caught a Desportivo Coala's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jorge Sainz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Desportivo Coala booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sainz didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 42ndth minute, when Desportivo Coala's Ronalds McDonald fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Astor Hug made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 45th minute of play. After some careless play in the Desportivo Coala defense, Francisco Seco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Astor Hug. The Desportivo Coala fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Astor Hug should have stopped the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francisco Seco made a kick off. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Astor Hug tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronalds McDonald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Alcântara in the 60th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronalds McDonald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute, Ronalds McDonald got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronalds McDonald in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ronalds McDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, Ronalds McDonald had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronalds McDonald was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronalds McDonald in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. 83 minutes into the game, Ronalds McDonald cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Joaquin Gayoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 88 played minutes Desportivo Coala got a freekick which was hit by Aírton Pires. If Jaime Cazalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the game, Desportivo Coala's Ronalds McDonald nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1.
