Jacobo Truylos lost his temper 4 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in ESQUIU FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 3rd minute. Penalty! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Narciso Ekain in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tony Githinji Muhoho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of ESQUIU FC booed when Rothwell Park was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christopher Mbugua didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Walter Mutuku came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Rothwell Park fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walter Mutuku couldn't finish the play. Tony Githinji Muhoho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Oskarbi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 27 played minutes Rothwell Park got a freekick which was hit by Christopher Mbugua. Walter Mutuku struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Lázaro Odon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rothwell Park. Lázaro Odon came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Rothwell Park's Walter Mutuku. But to his dismay, Walter Mutuku quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Walter Mutuku came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Rothwell Park fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walter Mutuku couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the match, Rothwell Park's Walter Mutuku sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lázaro Odon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Feliciano Guzman charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Feliciano Guzman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 46 played minutes ESQUIU FC got a freekick which was hit by Feliciano Guzman. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Tony Githinji Muhoho was a little too slow when Pastor Gonsalve got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 1-1. Rothwell Park's Abdallah Ali Bungei was substituted for Elijah Leakey. Lázaro Odon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Mohamed in the 71st minute of play. After having played for 73 minutes, William Mohamed managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rothwell Park's supporters crossed their fingers, but William Mohamed was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Narciso Ekain was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 82nd minute. ESQUIU FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Tony Githinji Muhoho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matias Oskarbi in the 85th minute of the match.
