Yao Jun Yang came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ildefonso Iraunkor in the 27thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Modesto Constancio in the 28th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yao Jun Yang made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ildefonso Iraunkor in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
