The supporters of Venezuela booed when Mario gool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ryszard Pilarski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Venezuela's Patricio Costa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Mykyta Yaremenko in the 20 minute of the game. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 29th minute. Kryspin Oryniak's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Mario gool's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leon Mosiniak came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Leon Mosiniak in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 84 minutes into the match, Mario gool's Kryspin Oryniak sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
