Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Axel Tasis got the match started through his kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Axel Tasis notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Deportivo Messina's Yuriy Babushkin. Yuriy Babushkin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodosio Ascencio in the 7th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Deportivo Messina's Teodosio Ascencio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benito Sanz. That made the score 1-1 after 9 minutes of play. Teodosio Ascencio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Deportivo Messina booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Axel Tasis's late challenge caught a Deportivo Messina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Tasis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, Axel Tasis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hector Jerardo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 91 minutes into the game, Deportivo Messina's Domingo Jakue nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-1. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodosio Ascencio in the 94th minute of play. In the 97th minute Hector Jerardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 98 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa.
