The referee gave Almus a penalty, 8 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Abdülhak Özgen, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Saint Etienne's Gregory Hildmann. 0-1. If Ali Nejat Tapgaç had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute, Jonas Majerus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 21 minutes into the game, Talat Şahap threw the ball into play from the sideline. Saint Etienne's Raphaël Favre quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 23rd minute of the match, Bernhard Krier tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Fazıl Çakıroğlu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 25 minutes in the game, Bernhard Krier fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Fazıl Çakıroğlu having to interfere. Ralf Behm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th minute Avni Kabadayı shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gregory Hildmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fazıl Çakıroğlu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernhard Krier in the 31st minute of play. After 32 minutes, Rıfkı Paker mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Almus and the Saint Etienne players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 32nd minute, Rıfkı Paker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fazıl Çakıroğlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernhard Krier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 36 minutes, Hilmi Cenap mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Almus and the Saint Etienne players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Saint Etienne booed when Almus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hilmi Cenap didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fazıl Çakıroğlu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernhard Krier, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Saint Etienne's zone, Ali Nejat Tapgaç stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregory Hildmann came out of the goal and Ali Nejat Tapgaç tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Almus getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Ali Nejat Tapgaç hit a great ball. Jonas Majerus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fazıl Çakıroğlu having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Fazıl Çakıroğlu came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Saint Etienne's Ralf Behm. But to his dismay, Ralf Behm quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernhard Krier in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fazıl Çakıroğlu saved Almus from getting behind. Bernhard Krier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64thth minute of the game Bernhard Krier who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Almus's Fazıl Çakıroğlu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 67 minutes, Bernhard Krier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saint Etienne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernhard Krier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gregory Hildmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eyüp Yöntem in the 73rd minute of the match. Klaus Hirsch hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Harry Thielemann hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Avni Kabadayı sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gregory Hildmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eyüp Yöntem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bernhard Krier in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fazıl Çakıroğlu prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
