Club Atlético Atlanta's Aquiles Oihenarte proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Club Atlético Atlanta from getting a goal against them. Aquiles Oihenarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laércio Damião in the 11th minute of the match. A hard shot by Vladimir Motta from long distance, 12 minutes into the match, got Aquiles Oihenarte's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 17 minutes into the game, Ademir Guia lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Aquiles Oihenarte. Aquiles Oihenarte was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Vladimir Motta. Rene Luzea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Bebeto de Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Ademir Guia came free, but Aquiles Oihenarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Atlético Atlanta's Aquiles Oihenarte proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Club Atlético Atlanta from getting a goal against them. In the 31st match minute, Club Atlético Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Rojelio to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind União Verde FC's goalkeeper Bebeto de Salles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Teobaldo Milian was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Mendonça in the 51st minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Aquiles Oihenarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57thth minute of the game Teobaldo Milian who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but União Verde FC's Bebeto de Salles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ademir Guia in the 60th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Aquiles Oihenarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes into the match, União Verde FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rene Luzea came free, but Bebeto de Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. União Verde FC's Gilvan Pombal got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vladimir Motta took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Aquiles Oihenarte. Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Laércio Damião fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored União Verde FC's protests and gave Laércio Damião a yellow card for diving instead. Club Atlético Atlanta's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
