An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 28th minute of play forced A.A. Cachila's goalkeeper Gustavo Hartz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 31 played minutes A.A. Cachila got a freekick which was hit by Nelson Muntz. 34 minutes had been played when some careless play by A.A. Cachila's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. Peru's Luz Tejedor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gustavo Hartz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Gustavo Hartz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 38th minute of play. In the 38th minute Luz Tejedor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Hartz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute Terri Moco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nelson Muntz during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nelson Muntz hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Seymour Skinner, made in the 54th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gustavo Hartz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luz Tejedor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gustavo Hartz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luz Tejedor in the 69th minute. Milagros Fraga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gustavo Hartz having to make a save. Gustavo Hartz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 73 minutes into the match, A.A. Cachila's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Gustavo Hartz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cesar Cordarrel hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. A.A. Cachila made a substitution. Rodrigo Astudillo replaced Terri Moco. Gustavo Hartz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julian Murillo's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. 83 minutes into the match, A.A. Cachila's Rodrigo Astudillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 84th minute, Joaquin Lizardi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. In the 87th minute, Peru's Rafael Gallo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gustavo Hartz. Gustavo Hartz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Rodrigo Astudillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.A. Cachila's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodrigo Astudillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Noboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A.A. Cachila's Gustavo Hartz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save A.A. Cachila from getting a goal against them. In the 97th match minute, A.A. Cachila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Higinio Brun to maneuver through the defense. Peru were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing A.A. Cachila to leave the ground with a draw.
