Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldir Urbano in the 9th minute of play. Silverio Corderun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 19th match minute, Tasso FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severi Nybacka to maneuver through the defense. Severi Nybacka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 27thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tasso FC's Silverio Corderun was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Silverio Corderun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 30th minute of the match. When Waldir Urbano fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tasso FC's protests and gave Waldir Urbano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Tasso FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Waldir Urbano hit a great ball. Silverio Corderun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Miguel Sequeira kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 47th minute of play forced Tasso FC's goalkeeper Silverio Corderun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Waldir Urbano was the one to do the kick off. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silverio Corderun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 94thth minute tested the skills of Silverio Corderun when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Daniel Zorita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 95thth minute, Silverio Corderun skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
