The ball went over the crossbar instead. 6 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gaudencio Flor. El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Illescas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's goalkeeper Gaudencio Flor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gaudencio Flor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Arnaldo Firman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-1 in the 18 minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 23 minutes, Jonathan Ferrant successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Gaudencio Flor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gaudencio Flor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, Tomas Illescas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gaudencio Flor was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. If Humberto Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patricio Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gaudencio Flor having to make a save. In the 48th minute, Mariano Selmo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnaldo Firman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Firman in the 73rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's Iker Romo got a free kick in the 77th minute. Iker Romo kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Iker Romo got a throw-in 84 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Humberto Valente. In the 89th minute, El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Patricio Costa fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 97th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
