Panama's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when 曾然凡 scored to the left of an out of position Marcos Cotilla, making the score, 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glauco Coelho in the 45th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.

Glauco Coelho's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pablo Caballero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Berganza went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-3 was the resulting score.
