When Fabricio Barto fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DyJ Campeón Sudamericana's protests and gave Fabricio Barto a yellow card for diving instead. Venezuela's Roberto Ocampo was substituted for Patricio Costa. A collision led to DyJ Campeón Sudamericana getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Fabricio Barto hit a great ball. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Conrado Milio having to make a save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 51 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. Dalmacio Gabirel hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 57th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquin George, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Joaquin George had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in DyJ Campeón Sudamericana's zone, Roberto Ocampo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Conrado Milio came out of the goal and Roberto Ocampo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anastasio Pagomari blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anastasio Pagomari in the 96th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for DyJ Campeón Sudamericana.
