A very good chance. 8 minutes into the match, Mayhem Sharks's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Wellington de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Narciso Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mayhem Sharks's supporters rose to their feet, but Narciso Dias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 12th minute of the match, Narciso Dias got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jonathan Ferrant was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Narciso Dias in the 13th minute. Wellington de Almeida stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Narciso Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Narciso Dias tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Narciso Dias got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Narciso Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. If Narciso Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 29th minute, Narciso Dias made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. If Narciso Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Narciso Dias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Tomas Illescas scored 3-2 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wellington de Almeida, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 47th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Narciso Dias stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Narciso Dias in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Dias in the 61st minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Narciso Dias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. 68 minutes into the match, Narciso Dias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Narciso Dias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. Narciso Dias struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mayhem Sharks. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Narciso Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Mayhem Sharks's Luís Fabiano de Andrade sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Osvaldo da Mata was slow to take the kick. During this time Mayhem Sharks's players had a chance to rest. After a rather tough play, Mayhem Sharks's Nikola Radošević got a free kick in the 94th minute. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington de Almeida having to interfere.
