The supporters of Peru booed when Dragonf⮊rcE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogério Leme didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Mina in the 36th minute of play forced Dragonf⮊rcE's goalkeeper Zacarias Sesimbra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A throw-in in the 39th minute of the game was made by Emmanuel Reyes with Milagros Fraga as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Emmanuel Reyes made in the 40th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Milagros Fraga immediately put the ball in play. In the 43rd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zacarias Sesimbra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Dragonf⮊rcE's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Zacarias Sesimbra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Peru were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Barry Houghton to make the kick off. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Virgílio Coelho made a great header on Dragonf⮊rcE's corner, it was just that Peru's Rolando Noboa managed to reach the ball for a save. Rafael Gallo scored 1-4 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zacarias Sesimbra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Zacarias Sesimbra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute.
