The audience was convinced that Juli Alvarez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Filiph Hägg was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

After 57 played minutes Berenjenas de Punto Fijo got a freekick which was hit by Adolfo Gombal. 59 minutes into the match, Aston Villa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Juli Alvarez came free, but Filiph Hägg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Aston Villa FC's goalkeeper Filiph Hägg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Merrill Pryor in the 84th minute of play forced Berenjenas de Punto Fijo's goalkeeper Thibaut Vandamme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute Merrill Pryor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thibaut Vandamme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, Jonas Forsberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Berenjenas de Punto Fijo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
