Club Ibiza's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mariano Ireno in the 35th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Club Ibiza's goal looked a bit too open when Xacintu Ribeiro came free, but Rene Higuita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Atlético Bucaramanga's goalkeeper Patrik Øskan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruno Fonso. Rene Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xacintu Ribeiro in the 39th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Club Ibiza were furious when Mariano Ireno was red carded, 50 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The goalkeeper, Rene Higuita, was totally fooled by Atlético Bucaramanga's Hernando Harroyo, who 53 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side.
